1. Reread an assignment prompt/instructions for  a major, large project (or test) in one of your courses.

2. Break the project into smaller activities.

3. Briefly read about each academic service listed below.

4. Match appropriate Academic Services with specific smaller activities.

5. Construct a timeline of when you will complete those the activities as well as when you will make appointments to use the academic service.

6. Share a copy of your timeline (as a picture or an uploaded document).

Preparing to use Academic Services for a Major Project

1. Pull out the timeline you constructed for “Planning to use Academic Services for a Major Project.”

2. Read the webpages about each academic service you intend to use.

3. At each point in your timeline where you say you will use a service, add specific notes about the following:

  • How do you make an appointment?
  • What do you need to do to be prepared for the appointment?
  • What do you need to bring to the appointment?

4) Share your updated timeline/notes.

1. After you have completed at least two appointments with an Academic Service (either two appointments with the same service, or one appointment with two different services), reflect on the following questions:

  • How useful was the service in helping you complete your project (and/or taking your test)?
  • What might you have done to help make the appointment more useful?

2. Make a one-page advertisement for either the Academic Service, or the specific tutor you met with. Be sure to include information about:

  • how and why to make an appointment,
  • how to prepare for the appointment, and
  • how to follow-up on the appointment to best take advantage of what you learned.

3. Upload your advertisement.
